red flags on buoys

haul their nets in

damsels and clowns
slivers of iridescence
the sunlit coral
a dead bird
offered by a cat
my love for you
spring constellations–
flowering cherry trees–
empty beer bottles
cherry blossoms
sigh at the transience
of children at play

black-tail does
shake their rumps
at my locked-up cats
sticky, spikey
encroachers– sorry

colored eggs
from last Easter
still hiding
breezeless day
clothesline sways
shadows of jays

Easter dinner comes
to a standstill
wrapped in straw
trees compare
winter jackets
white bearded man
waves a gun
in the bank
wonders what
he came in for
head hung down
a Statue of Liberty
sign-spinner
not so many kids
not so many kites
clouds go unadorned

doll’s festival!
but our girls are grown
their dolls won’t know them
