just one afternoon
a meadow of flowers
embraces a new grave
no Oscar night
at my house tonight
no cats nominated
what if, my child asks,
I’m someone’s imaginary friend?
looking glass looks back
snow bearded boomer
flies the battle flag
from his wheelchair
slap of blue sky
tickle of birdsong
fickle early spring
cats trading me in
I’m just having one
of those decades
old men at Starbucks
coffee and pie 40 cents
how one waitress smiled
Chinese chef
on death row
dead man woking
wolf moon devours
winter stars
curls and sleeps
in her fullness
winds rush through
choirs of bamboo
rumbling of breakers
teas in colored boxes
water whistles
spoons and cups chime
these woods
embrace the lost
never gives them up
her dead mother’s dress
dances in blues tempo
clothesline sways
(Revised)
on a vase
larks, ladies with parasols
a lamp in winter

outside the cafe
two old coots ponder– how to
break up with girlfriends

alas, unemployed;
frogs splash in a pond
ah, but overjoyed!
六十六 (Revised)
bird watchers
call out to sparrows outside
hey, don’t I know you
六十六
grandtoddler smiling
pancake house waitress smiles back
amber of sugar
