One Poet's Writing Practice: Poems by Mary Kendall
My thousand lines..
That is too true.
mine seem to have steadied – since the honebee tree felled itself some three years ago or so and all we had were wasps and such for pollination, the honeybees delight in my offerings of shaded, cooled water for them and birds. But the friendly wasps still yoemanlike patrol the veg-patch in search of virgin flowers…and the yellow and green squash and soon okra and eggplant will give them – and me – even more to gather. Like a sabre-wielding ungandalf, I unhinge basil from its buds so as to achieve yet more pesto. Man would never listen to such simple, sage advice: besides many would misapprehend the get and the off.
